Madrasa Conference

An uplifting event where 27 Madressas and over 120 teachers and volunteers came together. The presentations and workshops were very beneficial, and there were great opportunities for discussion and networking. We are grateful to all the teachers and volunteers who sacrifice their time and talents to help the current and future generations protect and cherish their faith.

Background

Islamic Madressas play a vital role in preserving and passing on religious knowledge, values, and cultural heritage to younger generations. The SMCA recognised the need to create a platform where educators from different centres could connect, share best practices, and discuss strategies for improving curriculum and teaching methods. The 2025 conference was organised to strengthen ties between institutions and enhance the quality of Islamic education in Australia.

The Challenges

Despite the dedication of teachers and volunteers, Madressas often face challenges such as limited resources, lack of standardised curriculum, and difficulty in accessing modern teaching tools. Geographic distance between centres can also limit collaboration and peer support. Additionally, balancing traditional Islamic teachings with contemporary educational methods remains an ongoing challenge for many institutions.

The Solution

The SMCA organised the Madrasa Conference 2025 as a unifying event to address these challenges. By bringing educators together in one space, the conference encouraged the exchange of ideas, presentation of innovative teaching approaches, and discussion of common concerns. It also fostered a sense of community among Madressa staff, paving the way for ongoing collaboration, shared resources, and the development of initiatives that strengthen Islamic education nationwide.
